This book I think is a perfect book for small children learning their colors. This book has great colors and some bold prints that really shows children a wide variety of artistic art along with great text features.
Mouse and Bear go on an adventure through the woods. On their walk they spot a variety of colors. During their discovery they have lots of fun discovering colors and
rhyming together.
The illustrator Jane Chapman did an excellent job with the pictures and colors. I think that she used color, text and design. On every page she uses things that go along with that particular color. With every color on every page you can see it shows great emotions and mood for each character.
Open Discussion:
·
Ask the class if they
recall what the first color was in the story.
·
Have the children talk about
everything in the classroom that relate to each color.
·
Ask the class to share with the rest
of the class what they call most of each color.
Fun class activity:
Split the class into 5 groups. Provide each group with a large sheet of white paper. Have each group pick and color. Once they've picked there color have the students split the paper in two with a black line. One side for words that relate to the color. For example Red apple, Green grass etc. On the bottom have the children draw the pictures for each word. After each group have done so have each group present what they've done to the class. Then when everyone has shared their color hang the creative art around your room.
